NCCA ANNOUNCES ACCEPTANCE OF
ENTRIES TO THE 2007 NCCA WRITERS’ PRIZE
Executive Director Cecile Guidote-Alvarez of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) announces the acceptance of entries to the 2007 NCCA Writers’ Prize.
The NCCA Writers’ Prize is a biennial grant awarded to six (6) writers, one for each of the following categories: novel, short stories (including children’s stories), poetry, drama, essay (English) and literary biography (English/Filipino). The grant, in the amount of TWO HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND PESOS gross, will assist the grantee during the writing stage of the project. The grant is good for one year, after which a manuscript of the writing project will be submitted to the NCCA for possible publication or staging.

Entries shall be accepted starting June 1 to December 31, 2007.

NCCA ONLINE ARTISTS REGISTRY

The Online Artists Registry is an electronic resource of information about Filipino architectural, cinematic, dance, dramatic, literary, and visual artists and their works.
The Registry is hoped to provide Filipino artists an online space where data about them and their works can be readily accessed.
All Filipino artists based in the country and abroad who are actively practicing their craft may register. Musical artists may register directly at the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) website at their Online Registry of Filipino Musical Artists and their Works, also an NCCA Project.
CRITERIA

Artists must meet at least one of the following criteria in order to be included in the list.

1. Individuals who actively pursue their art as professionals or amateurs
2. Individuals who already possess a body of work in their respective fields.
a) Published work.
b) Performed /directed/ production designed/ light designed in a dance/cinematic/ musical / theatrical production.
c) Had at least one major solo exhibit or two group exhibits.
d) Designed at least one major architectural project.
3. Individuals who are members and alumni of a national or regional arts organization
4. Individuals who received distinction and/or award (major prizes plus honorable mention) from government/private and/or national/regional award-giving bodies.
